In the campaign finance data, we are including candidates who have been certified by the Maine secretary of state's office, or filed with the Maine Ethics Commission or Federal Elections Commission to run for office even if they later dropped out or did not make the primary ballot. Independents, or unenrolled/non-party candidates, will not run in a primary this June.
Here's the total raised by candidate.
Here are the top donors for each candidate.
Contributions to candidates can come from a variety of sources: individuals, political action committees, political party committees, the candidates themselves and leftover funds from previous campaigns. Here's a breakdown by source.
Here's a breakdown of in-state vs. out-of-state contributions.
Data for these charts comes from FEC Schedule A and B filings, which are used to disclose receipts and disbursements. Campaigns file them on a different schedule than the reports from which the overall contribution and expenditure totals are drawn. As such, the sum of in-state and out-of-state contributions may not add up to overall totals at this time, but they will be updated as more data becomes available.
